More than that, he was a part of our family. My fondest memories were of our  family riding trail together with all the children on their horses, of which at least one seemed to always be in  heat. Hal was a perfect gentleman and never took liberties with the situation, despite considerable teasing  when I wasn’t paying attention and telling the kids to move their mares forward.
