The following is how her owner Rosalie has described this wonderful horse's heart and get-up-and-go:

"I remember one time I was riding derby ditch and I had started out dead last in order to have more control. We had an OK ride; she was strong and pulling on the reins the whole way. Fnally at 46 miles (where there was a vet check), I was complaining bitterly to one of the vet check people (Peter Maleo) and he said I should be so lucky to have that problem, most endurance riders would kill for it.  To put it succintly, I am a timid rider and princess is a bold horse.  She has to be ridden with a strong bit when racing. When trail riding, I use a plain easy snaffle. When racing I use a kinberwhick or a curb.  She would certainly match up much better with a bold rider than she did with me.  The horse I am riding now can be placed anywhere-front, back, or in the middle.  Princess wants to be only in the front and can't be "placed" anywhere.  She is fairly well trained now.  The woman I bought her from, simply mounted (at a trot) and took off on the race.  Princess didn't even know how to back up.  She now does and will leg yield and can be rated in an arena or on the trail.  I have had a few dressage lessons on her in my efforts to have her become more responsive.  She needs a light weight or featherweight rider because of her small (14.3) size or a good junior who wants to ride with a competive sponsor."
