Solstar has gone International!!
Solstar is the new foundation stallion of Sri Lanka! In 2007, the former Minister of Agriculture, Palitha Samarakoon, in conjunction with the University Equine Department requested frozen semen to use on their native mares/native crosses in an effort to repopulate their country with horses after many of the native horses were lost during the devastating Tsunami a few years ago. Palitha Samarakoon researched the Arabian Stallions in the United States and requested Solstar's video. He was so impressed with Solstar's beauty, movement and correct conformation that he asked us to send them Solstar's frozen semen. They wanted it as soon as possible and Alamo Pintado cooperated in the rush collection -- and so did Solstar -- what a trooper! We only asked for costs of collection and shipment as we want to do our part in helping this wonderful country rebuild its equine program. Here are some pics of the horses Sri Lanka is putting into this program; most are 40%-thoroughbred/60%-native pony crosses. Palitha and his family visited us at Whispering Oaks Arabians in July, 2008, and we had a delightful time with them. Mr. and Mrs. Samarakoon were here to attend their son's graduation ceremony at University of California and they spent part of their time visiting the CA sights. It was an honor that they took time out from their short trip to visit us and spend time with our horses as well. They were able to see a preview of what their 2009 Solstar foal will resemble. Below are some pictures of their ranch which they run in Sri Lanka, as well as some of the mares they will be using Solstar's semen on. You will notice Palitha in one of the pictures. We have been invited to visit this tropical paradise island in the future and are looking forward to a relaxing visit. We will be posting pictures of Solstar's first international offspring in 2008! Keep checking back!!
Solstar has demonstrated the ability to pass on Country English movement for those, like my husband, who enjoy the thrill of competing saddleseat. His sire Explodent was known for producing English Pleasure winners, yet that discipline has become so extreme that we far prefer the Country English and Show Hack classes where the horses look more relaxed. After all, it is called English Pleasure isn't it?
Below are a few of the foal crops from this wonderful stallion with a big trot and even bigger heart. His Sire Explodent was my best friend and helped me through some very tough times. Please visit Explodent's Tribute Page. He was not only beautiful and a true athlete (prior to his fever causing his subsequent chronic laminitis), he had great intelligence and heart. Solstar inherited all of his Daddy's special traits! Just look at his babies below.

Solstar's Beautiful Black Filly: Sahaj
Now we know that Solstar inherited his sire Explodent's ability to produce black offspring. Explodent's black daughter, QCA Intensive, was Regional Champion II and III and Canadian Nationals Top Three! Sahaj shows every bit the same beauty plus she has incredible movement as well!

Solstar's Colt: WOA Silver Star (Out of RS Silver Star)
Congrats to Mary Barton in Arizona!
| RS Silver Star, who was bred by Mr. Richard Skinner, Mgr.of the Hearst Ranch, is exquisitely beautiful, as well as breathtaking to watch. She floats a trot and has, not only great extension, but tremendous hock action as well. She was bred to Solstar in 2005 to produce an athlete who is beautiful to behold as well. He has every bit of his sire and dam's HUGE trot and incredible extension! The colt is being offered by private treaty. He will make an awesome Dressage and Show Hack prospect! With Silver's and Solstar's personalities, he will make an excellent family horse as well.

Solstar's Filly: WOA Halyva Star (Out of Halynov daughter Halyne)
Congrats to Tracy Hefner in Arizona!

Halyva Star's dam, Halyne was one of our best Halynov daughters, bred by race horse breeder Charlie Jenkins. Not only was Halyne a halter winner and recognized for her beauty, she was an awesome mover and had all of her daddy's athletic ability. She had speed and great extension, as well as incredible hock action. She was bred to Solstar in 2005 to produce an athlete who was equal in beauty and athletic ability. Halyva Star was purchased by Tracy Hefner, an endurance competitor who has great hopes for the girl when she matures!

Solstar's Colt: WOA Hal's Star (Out of Halynov daughter, Halter Champion Mamma Mia)
Looks like this colt is taking after his halter winning mamma!! His dam is one of our last Halynov daughters and has won almost every halter class that she was entered in (we stopped showing in halter classes when we saw some of the abuses in that category). We would have shown her in performance classes as she has a natural arched head set, except that our young children were having too much fun riding her trail -- and after all, isn't that what having family horses is all about?
Look at that colt's jibba-- looks like his mamma's when she was first born! Her get have won halter championships, yet we are more impressed with their performance wins. Beauty is what beauty does. And his sire Solstar will no doubt add his fluid movement to the mix. This guy will not only have beauty, but also will be an incredible athlete as well! Solstar's Colt: WOA Jumpinfor Joy (Out of Summits Overjoyed, Negatraz/*Bask lineage )
Congrats again to Lisa Shumate of Georgia!! (or how we now refer to her ranch, Whispering Oaks Arabians EAST!!!)

This adorable colt, not only has a gorgeous head, but also a laid-back shoulder, great length and angle of hip, and a long neck! Here are a few pictures of him, taken the day after his foaling. He shows the same excellent conformation as his sire, IIWP Solstar. Solstar can pop a trot or extend, depending on what is asked of him. click on link to Solstar's video below to see what athletic movement Jumpin inherited. His dam, Summits Overjoyed, pops a trot and has tremendous hock action. Jumpin's maternal grandsire Summitt, a Negatraz son, had Bask's legendary hock action and pop at the knees; likewise, Jumpin's paternal grandsire, Explodent, is known for producing English/Country English Pleasure champions.
